How buying a gun in San Angelo works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Texas law allows.
Texas adds no state layer to the federal process. There is no purchase permit, no registration and no waiting period, and dealers run the NICS check directly with the FBI. At pickup you show a current photo ID, complete ATF Form 4473 and wait for the check, which usually takes minutes. Federal ages apply: 18 for a lever-action rifle, 21 for a revolver. The firearm ships to the Texas dealer you name, who sets their own transfer fee.

Carrying a gun in Tom Green County
Texas has allowed permitless handgun carry since September 2021 for adults 21 and over who may lawfully possess a firearm, openly in a holster or concealed, which covers a single action in a belt holster. The optional License to Carry is issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety and helps with reciprocity and some posted locations. Schools, courthouses, polling places and properly posted private property stay off limits with or without a license.
Hunting near San Angelo
Texas Parks and Wildlife sets white-tailed deer seasons by county, with a North Zone and a South Zone and separate mule deer rules in the Panhandle and Trans-Pecos. The general season opens on the first Saturday of November and runs into January, with archery from early October and youth weekends around it. Centerfire rifles, handguns, muzzleloaders and shotguns with slugs are legal. Feral hogs may be hunted year-round with a hunting license and landowner permission. Bag limits differ by county, so read the current Outdoor Annual.
San Angelo sits on the northern Edwards Plateau, some of the best whitetail and feral hog country in Texas. Most hunting is on private leases, with a few public units through Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Live oak and mesquite pastures around town hold whitetail, hogs and some of Texas' busiest deer leases. A .357 or .44 lever gun is a common truck rifle for hogs at feeder distance.
