Rough Rider has been Heritage's .22 plinker for years, and the Big Bore version steps up to .357 Magnum. It has a blued finish, a 4.75-inch barrel, and a six-round cylinder in the classic single-action layout.
The .357 Magnum also fires .38 Special, which means you can choose between gentle loads for practice and heavier loads for field use. It is an inexpensive way to enjoy a centerfire single action, and the 4.75-inch barrel offers a good balance of sight radius and carrying comfort.
Handling stays traditional. You load through the gate, cock the hammer for each shot, and eject empties with the rod. Ranch folks can keep one in a saddlebag or a truck for varmints and snakes. New centerfire shooters will find the .38 Special loads easy to learn on.
As with any budget revolver, check it over on arrival, keep it clean, and put a drop of oil on moving parts. Use only ammunition suitable for the gun and stay within factory loads. The revolver ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is completed there before you pick it up.
