Few revolvers look as imposing as the Walker. It is huge, heavy, and carries the story of early Texas lawmen and Colt's first big contract. Cimarron's Civilian version is a replica made for black powder shooters, in .44 caliber.

Black powder revolvers are loaded differently from cartridge guns. You pour in powder, seat a ball or conical bullet in each chamber, and cap the nipples. The process is slow and takes practice, but many shooters find it relaxing and rewarding. Regional laws can treat these guns differently from modern firearms, and your dealer can tell you how it applies in your state.

On the range, a Walker is an attention-getter. It is long and weighs a lot, so it is better as a range piece than for carrying. The recoil is more of a push than a snap, thanks to the weight and the slow burn of black powder.

Clean it after every session with warm water and oil, since black powder residue attracts rust. It ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is completed there before you take it home.
