Black finish gives the First Model American a different personality from the blued version. This is a Cimarron reproduction of the early Smith and Wesson top break revolver, chambered in .45 Colt.

A top break revolver opens like a shotgun. The latch releases, the barrel tips down and the cylinder lifts, ejecting the empties at once. It is a quick system for reloading, and cavalry troopers used it. Cowboy action shooters enjoy the novelty.

The black finish is subdued, and it works well on a revolver that you plan to use. It hides small scratches and gives a business like look. Collectors will like the way it stands apart from the many Colt copies.

The First Model American is a handsome revolver with a slim profile and a spur trigger guard. It's a conversation piece at the range. Ask your dealer to look over the fit and function at pickup, and run a few boxes of ammunition through it before you rely on it in the field.

The price is high. The listing is new. It ships to your FFL dealer for the background check. Take your time learning the latch before you try it in a hurry.
