Plain and sturdy is how the Cimarron Frontier presents itself. It is a single-action revolver in the army pattern, chambered in .45 Long Colt, with a 5.5-inch blued barrel and a six-round cylinder.

The longer barrel is popular at cowboy action matches because it balances well and gives a long sight radius. It soaks up some recoil, too. Standard cowboy loads in .45 Colt are gentle, and the revolver feels natural in the hand with the right grip.

Out on the property, a revolver like this can ride in a flap holster on the saddle or on the hip. It handles snakes and varmints, and for those who like handgun hunting, it can take hogs and deer at close range with heavy loads suitable for the gun.

The blued finish is classic and easy to maintain. Wipe it after use and run a light film of oil on the steel. Follow the single-action routine of loading through the gate, keeping the hammer on an empty chamber, and cocking only when you are ready to shoot. It ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is done there.
