Few rifles carry a barrel as long as 34 inches, and this Sharps Down Under makes use of every one. Uberti's 1874 Sharps is chambered in .45-70 Government with a black finish and case hardened receiver. It is a single shot, falling block rifle, the type that long range shooters prize.

The Down Under name suggests a model aimed at Australian style long range matches. The very long barrel gives you a long sight radius and added steadiness. It is heavy, which keeps it from moving as you aim, and tames the recoil of the .45-70.

This kind of rifle needs patience. You load one round, close the block, cock the hammer and shoot. The reward is a satisfying hit on a faraway target. Black powder cartridge silhouette is a popular sport among Sharps fans.

At this price, it is a serious investment. A shooter who loves the game will see it as a tool. A collector will see it as a prize.

The listing is new. It ships to your FFL dealer for the background check.
