Wet weather is hard on deer rifles, and this Rossi R95 was built for it. A stainless steel finish and a wood laminate stock both stand up to rain, mud, and cold mornings in the stand better than blued steel and plain wood.

The rifle is chambered in .30-30 Winchester, the classic whitetail round, and its 5+1 capacity means five in the magazine and one in the chamber. A 20-inch barrel handles well in timber and still leaves room for a useful sight radius.

For a ranch rifle, the R95 is a practical choice. Chuck it in the truck, carry it on the four-wheeler, and take it into the woods without worry about every scratch. Ammunition is easy to find, the recoil is mild, and the cartridge has taken uncounted deer across the country.

The laminated stock is stable, and the stainless steel wipes clean. Still, give the action a light oiling and check the screws, especially after hard use. It ships to your FFL dealer, and the background check is done there before you take it home.
