Henry's X Model is a modern take on the big-bore lever gun, built around a rugged action and the .45-70 Government cartridge. The barrel measures 19.8 inches, and the finish is blued, so it carries the traditional look with a few updates.

Hunters in thick cover know the appeal. A .45-70 puts a heavy bullet downrange, and the lever action means you can follow up quickly without taking your eye off the target. The barrel length keeps the rifle handy in brush, stands, and pickup trucks, while still giving the sights a decent radius.

The X Model has features meant for working use, so it suits those who actually carry a rifle instead of hanging it on a wall. Recoil depends on the load you choose. Standard loads are a firm push, while heavier ones need a steady shoulder and a good pad.

Keep the action clean, oil the bolt and lever pivots, and wipe the barrel after humid days. The rifle ships to your FFL dealer, where the background check is completed before you take it home.
