An octagon barrel gives the Henry H1 Frontier a traditional look, and the .17 HMR cartridge gives it a flat trajectory. The rifle has a 20 inch barrel, a 13 round capacity, and a walnut stock.
The .17 HMR is a small, fast round for varmints. Prairie dogs, groundhogs, and coyotes at moderate range are well within its reach. It is not for deer, but for a farm, it is a fine rifle.
A lever action rimfire is easy to carry, and the walnut feels warm in cold weather. Keep the bore clean for best accuracy. Use a scope for the longer shots the cartridge allows. A steady rest and an unhurried first group will tell you more than any description can.
No firearm goes to a front door. Pick your local FFL dealer when you order, and finish the paperwork and background check with them. If a detail matters to your decision, send a question first and compare the answer with the photos. Give the photos a slow look at full size; they show finish and wear better than any paragraph can.
