Gophers, prairie dogs and coyotes at a good distance are what the .17 HMR was made for, and the Golden Boy is a handsome way to carry one. The barrel is 20 inches and octagonal, with a magazine that holds eleven rounds. It is a lever action rimfire that cycles fast and stays flat on target.

The Golden Boy has a look that stops people at the gun counter. The octagon barrel adds weight forward, which settles the sights and steadies your hold off a fence post. The lever is short and crisp, so a second shot comes quickly when a varmint pops back up.

The .17 HMR is a flat, fast cartridge, and it is a bit sensitive to wind. Learn your holds at 50 and 100 yards before you head out. A scope is easy to add if your eyes want it.

This is a rifle for the rancher who wants pest control with some style. The listing is new. It ships to your FFL dealer for the background check.
