Few rifles earned the nickname of the gun that won the West like the 1873, and Cimarron brings the pattern back in a carbine chambered for the original .44-40 Winchester. Blued steel and a short barrel give it the look of the saddle guns that rode with ranchers and lawmen.

A carbine this size is easy to carry and quick to shoulder. It rides well in a scabbard, fits through a pickup window, and does not tire you out on a long walk along a fence line. The .44-40 is a mild cartridge, so recoil stays friendly, even for newer shooters.

Cowboy action shooters will recognize this as the sort of rifle that belongs on the line next to a single-action revolver in the same caliber. Folks who like to hunt with old patterns can use it for deer and hogs inside moderate range, as long as they pick bullets suited to the game and the law.

Clean it regularly, oil the lever pivot and the loading gate, and store the ammunition dry. It ships to your FFL dealer for the background check and transfer.
