Winchester's Model 1871 was a short lived rifle, and the Cimarron Model 71 brings it back in a premium form. It is chambered in .45-70 Government with a 24 inch barrel.

The .45-70 is a classic big bore cartridge. It has taken deer, bear and bison, and it can hit hard with the right loads. In a lever action rifle with a 24 inch barrel, you get a gun that carries well and shoots with authority.

A premium version usually has better wood, finer finish and good attention to detail. At this price point, you are buying a collector's piece that also works as a hunting rifle. If you choose to hunt with it, pick loads suited for the rifle and follow the maker's instructions.

This kind of rifle is as much about pride of ownership as practical use. It will look right on a rack in a lodge, and it handles like a vintage rifle should.

The listing is new, at a high price. It ships to your FFL dealer for the background check.
